Smith College, a NEWMAC and NCAA Division III institution, seeks a Head Coach of Track & Field. The Head Coach will work together with the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country to organize and administer a successful Track & Field program. The Head Coach of Track & Field will oversee the Speed/Power events, while the Director oversees the Middle & Long Distance events.

Responsibilities include:

• Working with the Director to develop both short and long term visions to elevate the standing of the program at the NEWMAC, New England, and NCAA levels
• Planning and implementation of daily practices & operations
• Individual mentorship and meetings with student-athletes
• Mentoring graduate assistant coaches enrolled in the Exercise & Sports Studies master’s program
• Recruiting ambitious student-athletes in compliance with NCAA and institutional regulations
• Administrative duties may include team travel, budgeting, alumni relations, and others
• Hosting and directing successful indoor & outdoor meets

Qualifications include:

• Minimum of 3 years of coaching experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties of the role.
• Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred
• Cultural competence when working with a diverse student body
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver’s license
