Mount Holyoke College seeks a part-time assistant track and field coach (throws). The assistant coach will be responsible for assisting the head coach with the organization, development, and daily function of the NCAA Division III program competing in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference. Preference will be given to candidates with track and field coaching experience in throws.
This is a part-time, paid position with a workload of 10-20 hours per week. Team practice is M-F from 6:30 – 8:45 am. Flexibility can be offered for those that need to arrive slightly after the start of practice and/or leave slightly before the end of practice (e.g. arrive at 7:00 am and depart at 8:15 am). The team is in season from:
10/18/21 – 11/19/21
11/29/21 – 12/4/21
1/17/22 – 3/11/22
3/21/22 – 5/28/22
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Strong preference will be given to candidates with at least two years coaching experience at the collegiate level. The candidate should have a desire to pursue a career in coaching and possess strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, knowledge of NCAA rules, and the ability to attract high quality student-athletes. The candidate must have a flexible schedule and possess the ability to work in a high energy, fast-paced, and constantly evolving setting.
Duties include: individual instruction; team training; player management; meet management; and assisting the head coach in overseeing a program that abides by all NCAA, NEWMAC, and Mount Holyoke College rules and regulations.
Based on candidate’s prior experience and current availability, duties could also include: the recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes; assistance with team non-competition events such as community service, fundraising, and alumnae events.
