Job Description
Fort Scott Community College is seeking a knowledgeable, energetic, and dedicated Volunteer Pole Vault Coach to assist with the development and oversight of the men’s and women’s pole vault event group. This is a non-paid, volunteer position ideal for individuals seeking to gain coaching experience at the NJCAA Division I level while making meaningful contributions to a growing and competitive program.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and conducting pole vault practices and technical sessions.
- Provide individualized coaching and feedback during practices and competitions.
- Collaborate with the coaching staff to develop training plans, competition strategies, and athlete development.
- Help ensure a safe and positive training environment.
- Travel to selected competitions as needed.
- Support recruiting efforts and assist in evaluating potential student-athletes as requested.
Qualifications:
- Competitive experience in pole vault. (collegiate level preferred)
- Prior coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- CPR/First Aid and NCAA coaching certifications. (or willingness to obtain)
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and student-athlete-centered culture.
Time Commitment:
- Flexible hours, primarily afternoons and weekends, based on practice and competition schedules.
