Job Description

 

Purdue University Fort Wayne Athletics is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Volunteer Throws Coach to assist with the development of its NCAA Division I Track & Field program. This position will work directly under the Assistant Throws Coach and support all aspects of the throws program, including training, athlete development, recruiting support, daily operations, and meet day coaching.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Assistant Throws Coach in the planning and implementation of training programs for throwers.
  • Provide technical instruction and event-specific coaching for athletes.
  • Support the monitoring and development of student-athlete performance, strength, and conditioning progress.
  • Assist with practice organization, equipment setup, and facility management.
  • Contribute to recruiting efforts, including communication with prospective student-athletes and evaluation of recruiting materials, in accordance with NCAA rules.
  • Possible travel with the team to competitions as needed and assist with meet-day coaching responsibilities.
  • Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes academic success, personal growth, sportsmanship, and competitive excellence.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of track & field throwing events and coaching techniques.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with student-athletes from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to NCAA, Horizon League, and Purdue University Fort Wayne policies and regulations.
