Job Description
The Department of Athletics is seeking a GA for Cross Country / Track & Field beginning academic year: Fall 2027.
The Cross Country / Track & Field Graduate Assistant can expect duties to include coaching and recruiting student-athletes, athlete skill development, competition day responsibilities, monitoring of student-athlete academic progress and commitments, and other duties assigned by the Director of Cross Country / Track & Field and Head Cross Country Coach. These responsibilities will not interfere with the candidate’s academic pursuits in graduate school.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily management and coaching instruction of student-athletes. Position group to be determined.
- Recruiting responsibilities that include evaluations and communication with prospects.
- Administrative duties that will include operational assistance, camps, fundraising, and academic support.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree
- Admission into the graduate school at John Carroll University.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work with students.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
- GA must maintain a term GPA of 3.0 while in the position and hold no active academic probations.
- Must maintain full-time graduate student status.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous playing experience in high school or college.
- Previous coaching experience in high school or college.
- Familiarity with Hudl and uploading film.
- Ability to edit video or use photoshop for recruiting purposes.
Working Hours and Conditions: Must be able to work in person. Must be available to work weekends in-season.
