ABOUT THE ROLE
FDU Track & Field is hiring a Graduate Assistant Coach who has a background in the long sprints and/or hurdles. This is a two-year position. It’s a chance to earn a graduate degree while getting hands-on experience in a Division I program. The Graduate Assistant will work directly with the Head Coach and staff on coaching, recruiting, and daily operations.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Tuition covered for 9 credits per semester
- On-campus housing (room)
- $10,000 annual stipend, paid biweekly
- Two-year appointment
- Open to any graduate program at FDU
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Coaching
- Help coach the long sprints and hurdles (200m, 400m, 100m/110m hurdles, and 400m hurdles) at practice.
- Help with warm-ups, drills, technical work, and video review.
- Travel with the team and support athletes at competitions.
Recruiting
- Take an active role in recruiting sprint and hurdle prospects who can compete at the Division I level and do well academically at FDU.
- Handle recruits from first contact to commitment: evaluations, calls and messages, campus visits, and follow-up.
- Scout prospects off campus at high school, club, and junior college meets as assigned.
- Build relationships with high school and club coaches across New Jersey, New York, and the Northeast.
- Keep the recruiting database up to date and help plan roster needs.
Program Support
- Drive team vans to competitions, practices, and recruiting events.
- Assist with meet logistics, travel planning, and team operations.
- Help mentor student-athletes and build a positive, accountable team culture.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the Head Coach.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree
- Admission to (or eligibility for) a graduate program at FDU
- Competitive or coaching background in the long sprints and/or hurdles
- Must pass the NCAA recruiting certification exam
- Valid U.S. driver’s license, and able to meet FDU’s requirements to drive University vans
- Strong communication skills, reliability, and a strong work ethic
- Must be available for practice, competition, recruiting, and travel, including nights and weekends
PREFERRED
- High-level collegiate success, such as NCAA Regional or National qualifier, or All-Conference honors
- Strong interest in a career in collegiate coaching
