Job Description

Overview of Graduate Assistant Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Coach

PNW is seeking a Graduate Assistant Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Coach to join our growing NCAA Division II athletic program in Hammond, IN!

Graduate Assistant Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Coach General Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Graduate Assistant Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Coach reporting to the Head Men’s and Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country Coach.
  • Assist head coach in the planning, organizing, and coaching of the track and field team.
  • Other responsibilities include but are not limited to fundraising, coordinating camps and coaching clinics, and maintaining knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities of Graduate Assistant Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Coach:

  • Practice organization and implementation
  • Attending all practices and competitions
  • Identifying and coordinating recruitment of prospective student-athletes
  • Abide by all written policies, procedures, and guidelines of Purdue University Northwest, the Department of Athletics, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and all applicable conferences or associations
  • Assist in recruiting prospective student-athletes through phone and email and in-person evaluations
  • Assisting with management of web-based recruiting software
  • Data entry (must be proficient with Microsoft Office)
  • Other duties as assigned (Being also in graduate school, more leniency of tasks will be given to accommodate appropriate workload)

Required Experience of Graduate Assistant Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Coach

  • Playing and/or coaching experience at the collegiate level and/or coaching certifications in track and field
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Mature, respectful, professional engagement and demeanors with student-athletes and University personnel
  • Acceptance into Graduate Program at Purdue Northwest (can be done during application process)
