Reporting to the Head Coach for Men’s Track & Field, the Assistant Coach will be responsible for coaching the sprint program and assisting with training and practice for the jumps group, while adhering to all NCAA, Conference, and College rules. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of competency in track and field skill instruction, motivation and conduct of practice sessions under the direction of the Head Coach. They will understand the role of intercollegiate athletics in a highly competitive academic environment; possess strong communication skills and have the ability to effectively operate within the administrative structure of the team. The ideal candidate will effectively build and sustain positive relationships with faculty, staff and alumni and student-athletes. They will mentor student-athletes with maturity and integrity and be a positive role model. They should possess strong leadership skills and understand the concepts, applications and philosophies of the collegiate track and field. Duties may include, but are not limited to: practice planning, recruiting, scouting, and other duties as assigned by the head coach.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in practice planning and meet preparation.
  • Assist in the coaching and development of men’s and women’s sprinting, hurdling, and jumping events for the track and field team.
  • Works closely with other coaches to develop and program strength development for sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers.
  • Exercise discretion and judgment in decision making in keeping with College, Conference, and NCAA regulations
  • Represent Haverford at all times in a professional manner including dealings with officials and opposing coaches
  • Enforce departmental policies and team rules regarding travel and conduct both on and off the field
  • Perform other administrative duties pertaining to the program
