HEAD COACHING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Collegiate Head Coaching Certification Program (HCC) is a high level, detailed educational experience designed to prepare coaches to assume collegiate Head Track and Field Coaching duties. The certification is made available to assist head coaches and head coaching candidates in their coaching and management skills, to assist in resume building, and to document professional preparation to prospective employers and administrators. The certifications are gained by taking and passing certain identified coursework in the Track and Field Academy. The certifications consist of technical and management components.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why the HCC?
the HCC is the only program of its kind, certifying you as a person who has undergone professional education specifically designed to prepare you for Head Coaching duties.

Why the Academy?
The HCC is a part of the USTFCCCA’s Track and Field Academy. The Track & Field Academy is the only program of its type operated by a coaching organization, with a unique understanding of the challenges and issues coaches deal with in their daily institutional settings.

Does the HCC certify me?
Yes. The HCC grants a genuine certification by the USTFCCCA to coaches who successfully meet all the program requirements. Unlike other programs that offer certificates of completion, this and other Track and Field Academy courses offer true certifications of your skills and knowledge.

Why Should I Be Certified as a Head Coach?
You don’t have too be certified to be a Head Coach, but there are advantages. In addition to the education provided in the process, certification provides evidence of the time, trouble and expense you have invested in professional improvement to Athletic Directors and other hiring agents.

What is the Track and Field Academy?
The Track and Field Academy is a program administered by the USTFCCCA that offers a variety of certification programs and professional development courses for the Track & Field and Cross Country Coach.

Is the HCC part of a more extensive program?
Yes. The HCC is just one of the programs offered by the Track and Field Academy. The program offers multiple courses and certifications, as well as other continuing education experiences for the coach. A complete listing of the courses and certifications offered can be found in the Programs and Course Catalog sections of this website.
